TEXTILE RECYCLING PROGRAM - THROW & TAKE AWAY

There are only a small portion of textile can be recycled by the company. Based on this situation, I want to encourage people to participate in the process of making useless to useful, walk in with textiles and share with the local community. The design idea is to bring in something that are not recyclable in to become part of the library. Allow people to appreciate what they own and what they try to abandon. Meanwhile, to provide the opportunity for people to work and learn more about their textiles.

Pacific Branch Library:

It opened in 1904 and has the distinction of being the first Carnegie Library in Brooklyn, USA. The library staff looks forward to serving the people of this busy crossroads neighborhood for generations to come through Pacific Library’s wide range of information and recreational resources, as well as its innovative events and programs.

SELECT - APPLY - HANG

Introduce parts of collected textiles and combine with the architectural cables. This integration would become the supporting structure of the library instead of the original load-bearing bookshelf. The remaining textiles will then become the material in the “Textiles Workshop”.
